Coloring is one of the easiest ways to build the hand strength and control a child needs before writing. Philippine Animals is a 24-page printable pack for preschoolers ages 4 to 5.

What is inside

The pack has 20 coloring pages, plus 1 bonus pages. Page titles include “Color the tarsier”, “Color the carabao”, “Color the monkey”, “Color the bat” and “Color the whale”. Instructions are written in English with a Filipino line underneath, so kids and parents can use whichever language is easier.

Covers and headers are in full color, but every activity area is black line art on white, so the pages print cleanly in grayscale and do not waste ink.

Skills it builds

Working through the pages practices fine motor, philippine wildlife and vocabulary. Each page takes about 10 to 15 minutes, which suits the attention span of preschoolers ages 4 to 5.

How to use it

  • Start with crayons for younger kids; switch to colored pencils for the detailed pages.
  • Ask your child to tell a short story about the picture once it is done.
  • Print the same page twice and color one together, one independently.
  • Read the instruction line aloud; most pages need only one short sentence.

Ideas beyond the page

Play “I spy” with the picture before coloring: find something round, something tiny, something that moves. Turn a finished page into a birthday card for Lola or Lolo.

Who it is for

Preschoolers are ready for simple instructions and lots of pictures, which is how every page is built. At 24 pages, this is an activity pack with enough variety for a few weeks of regular practice. Parents can use it for homeschool or after-school practice, and teachers can print it for one classroom.

Printing tips

The file is an A4 PDF. Choose “Fit to page” and print one-sided; black-and-white is fine for the activity pages. At a computer shop, bring the PDF on your phone or a USB drive. You can print the whole pack or only the pages you need, as many times as you like for your own children or your own classroom.
