A rice farmer usually knows the price of urea to the peso and the last harvest to the cavan. What is harder to hold in memory is the full cost of a season: the seed bought in April, three fertilizer trips, the hand tractor, the transplanting crew, the harvester, and the irrigation fee paid in July. PalayDesk PH keeps all of it tagged to one season on one parcel, so the harvest and the sales can be compared with what the season actually cost.

Parcels and seasons

Each parcel carries its area in hectares, its tenure and, where a landowner shares in the harvest, the share percent agreed in writing. A season ties a parcel to a variety, a planting date and an expected harvest date.

Keeping wet and dry seasons separate matters because they rarely cost or yield the same. The season is the unit every cost, harvest and sale is attached to.

Inputs and labor as they happen

Seed, fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, irrigation fees, fuel and land rent are logged with quantity and unit cost, so the amount is computed. Labor records workers, days and the daily rate, plus any contract or pakyaw amount for land preparation or harvesting.

Logging these on the day they are paid is the whole trick. A season reconstructed from memory after harvest always comes out cheaper than it really was.

Harvest and moisture

Each harvest records cavans, the kilos per cavan you actually weigh, and the moisture reading. Total kilos follow, and anything above 14 percent moisture is flagged Dry before selling.

Wet palay sells at a lower price per kilo, so the flag is a reminder that a day or two of drying can be worth more than an early sale.

Sales, balances and the landowner's share

Palay sales record the buyer, kilos sold, moisture and price per kilo. Payments are logged as they arrive, and a balance past its due date reads Overdue, which matters when a cooperative or mill pays after milling.

The season margin sheet adds inputs and labor, applies the parcel's landowner share percent to the sales value, and shows net income and net per hectare with a Healthy, Thin or Loss label.
