Key takeaways
- Every piece is priced from its weight and karat rate.
- Layaways carry a computed final due date and balance.
- Consignors are paid from their share of the actual sale price.
- Each karat line shows its own gross margin.
A jewelry seller's stock is small enough to fit in one display case and valuable enough that one mistake costs a month's profit. The pieces are priced by weight, many leave the shop on layaway long before they are paid for, some belong to consignors, and old gold comes in over the counter. AlahasDesk PH keeps every piece, every peso of hulugan and every consignor's share in one workbook.
Price the piece from its weight
Each piece records its karat line, its weight in grams and a design or labor fee. The tag price is the weight times the selling rate per gram for that karat, plus the fee, so nobody has to recompute a price by hand at the counter.
When the market moves, change the selling rate on one row of RATES and every unsold piece of that karat is repriced at once.
Layaways with a real due date
A layaway names the customer and the piece, the down payment and the term in months. The final due date is computed from the layaway date, and every payment recorded against the layaway reduces its balance.
A layaway with money still owed after its final due date reads Past due. A fully paid one reads Fully paid, which is the signal to release the piece and nothing else.
Consignment without arguments
A consigned piece carries its consignor's ID and a zero cost. When it sells, the owner's share is computed from their agreed percentage of the actual sale price, not the tag price before discount.
The consignor list then shows each owner's pieces consigned and sold, the share earned, the payouts made and the share still owed, which is the conversation every consignor eventually asks to have.
Margin per karat line
Cash sales and layaways both carry a gross profit: the price less the piece cost, and for consigned pieces less the owner's share. The karat margin sheet adds them up per rate line.
Beside that, the grams and pesos spent buying old gold of the same karat show whether buying in is feeding the shelf at a price the selling side can carry.
